McIntosh MB20 is both a transmitter and receiver of a Bluetooth signal. This is an easy way to add streaming functionality to older McIntosh builds. It offers Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, advanced audio coding ( AAC) , Qualcomm aptX HD with low latency . Both analog and digital inputs and outputs are available . The advantage of the device is its compact size, it is not much bigger than a smartphone , and you do not need to use any third- party application to operate it . The MB20 has an extremely sensitive receiver for better signal reception , even from Class 2 devices , with the maximum range determined by the capabilities of both actively paired devices. An external antenna helps maximize the range, giving the MB20 up to 10 times the range of a typical Class 2 Bluetooth device . Usage examples : In receiver mode , you can stream from any compatible Bluetooth device to the MB20 , and that audio can then be played through your audio system McIntosh, regardless of when the amp or preamp was made . In transmitter mode , you can stream from the MB20 to any Bluetooth – capable device .
